Josephine Estelle is named after the daughters of James Beard Award-nominated chefs Andy Ticer and Michael Hudman. The ethos behind the restaurant is an emphasis on family, seasonal ingredients, homemade pastas, and recipes passed down from their mother's mother's mother.
The goal behind the identity was to emulate a classic Italian trattoria with a bit of elegance and stick true to the chefs' deep, familial roots. Clean graphics were made of several noodle types like spaghetti, bow and twist-tie, as well as handpainted photos for check presenters and advertising.
